Description
A Nordic whisky demon with Iberian blood flowing through its veins. Stauning El Cla?sico is a matured rye whisky that has additionally been aged in vermouth casks.
Rye whisky and sweet vermouth have always made a strong line-up in the iconic cocktail Manhattan. We wanted to capture that magic in our rye whisky. So, the matured whisky got a finish on vermouth casks, and the experiment turned out more than successful: A warm-blooded whisky with a deep, amber colour and a sweet aftertaste with a touch of bitter botanicals. Perfect for an exclusive cocktail or enjoyed as neat.
The third release from our experimental series, made from rye & barley harvested in Stauning, floor-malted at the distillery, matured in Virgin American Oak & Spanish Vermouth casks, double-distilled in small, open-fired pot stills, unfiltered and 100% handmade at the distillery using nothing but local ingredients.
Tasting Notes:
Aroma:The nose is filled with the scent of apples, oranges, ripe plum, warm spices, cinnamon and roasted caramel.
Taste:The lips are meet with a sweet and piercing kiss of dried fruits, citrus and crushed pepper.
Finish:The warm aftertaste has bittersweet notes of vermouth that stays inside the body for a long time.
“This vermouth-finished rye whisky is intriguing, complex, and distinctive, with aromas of deep pepper-spice notes of clove and ginger, baked orange peel, stewed fruits, and a gratifying tang of bitter fruit skins and herbal stalks. Mouth-drawing fruitiness with cherry-flavored gummy bears, sweet chalky candies, strawberry taffy, and a piercing streak of spice followed by cinnamon and the return of bitter herbs. Drink it neat or enliven your Boulevardier game.”– Jonny McCormick, Whisky Advocate (89 Points)
